Description

Hawaiian Roll Breakfast Sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast treat featuring layers of cream cheese, scrambled eggs, savory breakfast sausage, and melted cheddar cheese on soft Hawaiian rolls, topped with a buttery seasoned glaze and baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 12-count package Hawaiian Rolls
  • 6 tablespoons cream cheese (plain or onion & chive)
  • 1/2 pound ground breakfast sausage
  • 1/3 cup diced red bell peppers (optional)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Butter Glaze

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to prepare for baking the sliders later.
  2. Slice buns: Using a serrated knife, carefully slice through all 12 Hawaiian rolls horizontally so you have one large top bun layer and one large bottom bun layer without separating the individual rolls.
  3. Prepare pan and bottom buns: Grease an 8x11 inch baking pan. Place the bottom bun layer into the pan. If you don’t have an 8x11 pan, use the center of a greased 9x13 inch pan instead.
  4. Spread cream cheese: Evenly spread the cream cheese over the bottom bun layer in the pan.
  5. Cook sausage and peppers: In a saucepan, brown the ground breakfast sausage together with the diced red bell peppers (if using). Drain any excess fat and set the mixture aside.
  6. Make scrambled eggs: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper until smooth. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat, then pour in the egg mixture. Stir occasionally until the eggs are fully cooked and scrambled.
  7. Assemble layers: Sprinkle the cooked sausage and red pepper mixture evenly over the cream cheese on the bottom bun layer. Next, spread the scrambled eggs on top of the sausage. Then sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the eggs.
  8. Add top buns: Carefully place the top bun layer over the assembled fillings to form the full layered sandwich.
  9. Prepare butter glaze: Melt the butter in a small bowl using the microwave. Stir in onion powder, 1/8 teaspoon black pepper, and dried parsley flakes until well combined.
  10. Brush buns: Generously brush the butter glaze over the tops of the buns, allowing it to soak in.
  11. Bake sliders: Cover the pan with foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
  12. Serve: Remove from oven, slice into individual sliders, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use plain or flavored cream cheese such as onion & chive for added taste.
  • Diced red bell peppers are optional but add a nice sweetness and color.
  • Use a serrated knife for easier slicing of the Hawaiian rolls without tearing.
  • Make sure to drain excess fat from the cooked sausage to avoid greasy sliders.
  • Customize the seasoning of the butter glaze with additional herbs if desired.
  • Serve these sliders fresh and warm for the best flavor and texture.
