Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasonings
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
Dough and Toppings
- 16 oz pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 Tbsp chopped fresh basil
Alfredo Sauce
- 1 Tbsp unsalted butter
- ½ tsp minced garlic
- 2 oz cream cheese (softened)
- ½ cup milk
- ⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ tsp kosher salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Season the chicken: In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasonings, kosher salt, and black pepper. Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the chicken breasts.
- Cook the chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side. Remove from heat and let rest before slicing into bite-size pieces.
- Prepare the dough bowls: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Divide the pizza dough into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a small bowl shape by pressing the dough into an oven-safe muffin tin or similar molds. Brush the dough bowls with 2 tablespoons olive oil mixed with Italian seasoning, kosher salt, and garlic powder.
- Bake the dough bowls: Place the dough bowls in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until they are lightly golden and set but not fully baked.
- Make the Alfredo sauce: In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in softened cream cheese until smooth, then gradually whisk in milk to create a creamy sauce. Add Parmesan cheese, kosher salt, and black pepper. Cook, stirring, until sauce thickens slightly, about 3-5 minutes.
- Assemble the pizza bowls: Remove the partially baked dough bowls from the oven. Fill each bowl with sliced cooked chicken, pour a generous amount of Alfredo sauce on top, and sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the bowls.
- Final bake: Return the filled pizza bowls to the oven and bake for an additional 12-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the dough edges are golden brown.
- Garnish and serve: Remove the pizza bowls from the oven and sprinkle with chopped fresh basil. Let cool slightly before serving to enjoy both the creamy filling and the edible dough bowls.
Notes
- Use store-bought pizza dough for convenience or prepare homemade dough ahead of time for best flavor.
- Make sure to not fully bake the dough bowls before filling to prevent overcooking during the final bake.
- Add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms to the Alfredo filling for extra nutrition and flavor.
- Substitute low-fat cream cheese and milk options to reduce fat content if desired.
- For a spicier twist, add red pepper flakes to the Alfredo sauce or chicken seasoning.
